Mike Tyson issued a cryptic response after the results of a lie detector test involving his next opponent, Jake Paul, suggested that the YouTuber is sweating over whether he will prevail in their upcoming fight. The bout featuring the fighter once known as “The Baddest Man on the Planet” has been rescheduled to November after the original summer date was shelved.

The event involving the former world heavyweight champion and the internet celebrity, who is 30 years his junior, has proven divisive since it was announced. Backed by streaming giant Netflix, the contest will mark Tyson’s first professional fight in nearly 20 years.

Meanwhile, adversary Paul is just ten bouts into his own professional career, having risen to stardom as a Disney child star before becoming a viral sensation. Initially scheduled to take place at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium on July 20, the date was postponed on the advice of Tyson’s medical advisors after he experienced a health scare on a plane in May. It was later determined that the boxing legend had suffered a flare-up of an ulcer issue during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles.

Asked whether he felt he could beat Tyson on the new date of November 15 as part of a lie detector test on brother Logan Paul’s YouTube channel, the 27-year-old Paul responded “yes.” However, the machine detecting the veracity of his assertions determined that he was lying, in what could prove to be a telling finding. Following this, it was clear that the findings had not escaped Tyson’s attention as “Iron Mike” responded with three laughter emojis on Instagram.

Tyson still appears to be backing himself to beat his younger foe in Texas later this year. He posted a barbed update on Twitter/X, vowing to do damage to his slated opponent when they eventually face off in the ring: “Different date, same fate. Imma knock out Jake Paul. Although we had to postpone the fight, I will resume training shortly.

“I am thankful to the medical staff that treated me and to MVP, Netflix, and AT&T Stadium for working diligently to find the best reschedule date for all parties. While we have a new date, the result will be the same no matter when we fight. Jake Paul is getting knocked out.”

Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian said of the re-arranged bout: “Our team has worked diligently with all parties involved to reschedule this monumental fight to a date that ensures both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are fully prepared, with equal training time, as well as allowing us to keep the event at AT&T stadium in the midst of the Cowboys season.

“Paul vs Tyson is the most cross-generational sporting event in history, and we are committed to providing fans worldwide with this unforgettable night of boxing. We look forward to seeing everyone on Friday, November 15, for a showdown that will be talked about for generations to come.”
With Katie Taylor, the current world light-welterweight champion, set to face off against Amanda Serrano in a rematch at the 80,000-capacity arena in Arlington in November, the event promises to be one of the most anticipated of the year. The pair last stepped into the ring together in April 2022, with Taylor winning via a split decision.
