Zhilei Zhang Kos Deontay Wilder, Ending For The 38-Year-Old American Boxer

In a stunning display of power and precision, Zhilei Zhang knocked out Deontay Wilder in the fifth round of their highly anticipated showdown in Riyadh, delivering an explosive right hook that ended the match on a momentous night for Frank Warren’s Queensbury promotion.

The fight, held in Saudi Arabia’s capital, saw Zhang dominate from the outset. Wilder, known for his formidable punching power and nickname “The Bronze Bomber,” was visibly outmatched by the Chinese heavyweight’s skill and strategy. The bout’s decisive moment came after Zhang had already knocked Wilder off balance with a prior blow. Sensing victory, Zhang moved in and delivered a brutal right hook, flooring Wilder and sealing his triumph.

From the beginning, it was clear that Zhang had the upper hand. He landed a significant right hook in the second round, leaving Wilder struggling to regain his footing. As the fight progressed, Zhang maintained relentless pressure, preventing Wilder from utilizing his lethal right hand effectively. By the third round, the American boxer was under constant assault, unable to find a way past Zhang’s defenses.

Wilder, known for his resilience, attempted to rally in the fourth round, visibly trying to psych himself up by punching his own chest. However, his efforts were in vain as he failed to land significant blows on Zhang. The Chinese fighter’s dominance continued unabated, culminating in the fifth-round knockout.

The victory for Zhang capped off a remarkable night for Frank Warren’s Queensbury promotion, which achieved a clean sweep over Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing. The result not only highlighted Zhang’s rising prominence in the heavyweight division but also underscored the strategic prowess of Warren’s promotional team.

For Zhang, this victory marks a significant milestone in his career, showcasing his ability to compete and triumph at the highest levels of the sport. For Wilder, the defeat represents a moment to reassess and regroup as he looks forward to future challenges in the ring.
